About The Position

Boston Medical Center is seeking a registered nurse for MedSurg 4A, a 34-bed medical unit. The Medical-Surgical Units at Boston Medical Center – South provide inpatient care to a diverse patient population, including patients with medical and post-surgical needs across areas such as post-surgery, orthopedics, ortho-spine, bariatrics, and hospice. Nurses and interdisciplinary teams deliver evidence-based, patient-centered care focused on recovery, stabilization, and discharge planning, while supporting safe transitions to higher levels of care, rehabilitation, or home.

The RN will use the organization’s patient-centered care model to provide exceptional care, supported by BMC’s nursing organization. This position is scheduled for 24 hours per week on days, from 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Requirements

• Nursing diploma, Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN), or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
• Ability to obtain a BSN within four years is required.
• Current Massachusetts RN license.
• BLS certification.

Nice To Haves

• BSN preferred.
• Prior acute Med/Surg experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver nursing care, including assessing, diagnosing, planning, intervening, evaluating, and educating patients.
• Communicate with healthcare team members, patients, and their families.
• Coordinate and delegate appropriate patient care activities to inter-professional colleagues.
• Update and manage patient records.
• Enter and interpret computerized data and information.
• Follow guidelines and policies established by BMC’s nursing organization.
• Assist the leadership team with quality improvement projects as needed.
