About The Position

Boston Medical Center is hiring a Registered Nurse for MedSurg 4A, a 34-bed medical unit. The nurse will deliver exceptional, evidence-based, patient-centered care to a diverse inpatient population with medical and post-surgical needs. Med-surg care supports patients’ recovery and stabilization, discharge planning, and safe transitions to higher levels of care, rehabilitation, or home.

The position is scheduled for 24 hours, from 11 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., with rotating weekends. The role is part of BMC’s Magnet-recognized nursing organization, which offers a supportive work environment and opportunities for training, professional development, and career growth.

Requirements

• Nursing diploma, ASN, or BSN; the BSN is preferred.
• Ability to obtain a BSN within four years is required.
• Current Massachusetts RN license.
• BLS certification.
• Prior acute Med/Surg experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver nursing care, including assessing, diagnosing, planning, intervening, evaluating, and educating patients.
• Communicate with healthcare team members, patients, and their families.
• Coordinate and delegate appropriate patient-care activities to interprofessional colleagues.
• Update and manage patient records.
• Enter and interpret computerized data and information.
• Follow guidelines and policies established by BMC’s nursing organization.
• Assist the leadership team with quality-improvement projects as needed.
