About The Position

The Packer inspects and packs bottles at the standard rate on assigned production lines. The role includes monitoring bottles for quality defects and promptly notifying the operator or coordinator, maintaining housekeeping around assigned lines and machines, removing scrap, and grinding or pulling plastic as needed. Depending on assignment, the Packer may operate a punch, load conveyors or flamers, pack blank or decorated bottles, and make, tape, and unitize cartons. The position also involves initialing and dating box labels, completing unit tickets, promoting a safe working environment, and following Silgan safety policies and procedures. Other job-related duties may be assigned by the Supervisor.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
One year of manufacturing experience.
Dependability and a good attendance record.
Ability to understand bottle specifications to ensure proper bottle inspection.

Responsibilities

Promote a safe working environment and follow safety policies and procedures to prevent injury to self and coworkers.
Monitor bottles for quality defects and promptly inform the operator and/or coordinator.
Pack bottles at the standard rate.
Operate a punch as required.
Load conveyors and flamers as required.
Maintain housekeeping on assigned lines and around machines, including mopping if necessary.
Remove scrap from around the line.
Grind and pull plastic as needed.
Make, tape, and unitize cartons as assigned.
Initial and date box labels.
Complete unit tickets.
Perform other work as assigned by the Supervisor.
