Registered Nurse - Inpatient Psychiatry
About The Position
The Registered Nurse works on both inpatient mental health care units at UVMMC’s Medical Center Main Campus: a 16-bed locked unit serving voluntary and involuntary individuals and a 12-bed locked unit designed primarily for voluntary individuals requiring acute mental health care. The RN actively participates in treatment plans and treatment rounds, and provides psychiatric assessment and care as well as medical/surgical assessment and care. The role is part of a multidisciplinary team that includes MHT/LNAs, RNs, providers, social workers/case managers, and group therapists. RNs are trained to cover the Charge RN role and to precept. This is a bargaining union position; on-call is not required.
Responsibilities
- Participate in treatment plans and treatment rounds.
- Provide psychiatric assessment and care.
- Provide medical/surgical assessment and care.
- Work as part of the multidisciplinary team.
- Cover the Charge RN role when trained to do so.
- Precept when trained to do so.
