About The Position

VitalHire is hiring a travel Registered Nurse to work in Step Down at an acute care hospital in Lubbock, Texas. The assignment is a four-week contract, approximately November 16 through December 13, 2026; local clinicians may be able to extend through the holidays. The hospital is a short-term acute care facility and Level II trauma center with 379 beds.

The schedule is three 12-hour night shifts per week, 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Floating between units is required, with a 1:4 patient ratio. The role requires working every other weekend. No on-call is required, and 48-hour weeks are approved. The dress code is solid navy blue scrubs, and free parking is available.

Weekly pay is $1,696. Where eligible, the compensation includes a housing and meals stipend of up to $1,267 per week (GSA FY2027 maximum for this location).

Requirements

• Active Texas RN license; compact licenses are accepted.
• At least one year of recent Step Down experience.
• BLS certification.
• ACLS certification.
• Epic experience is required.
• First-time travelers are accepted.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care in the Step Down unit.
• Float between units as required.
• Work every other weekend.
