About The Position

Inova Loudoun Hospital is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join its Postpartum team. This PRN position has hours as needed. The nurse provides knowledgeable, compassionate clinical care and care coordination for patients and families, using patient- and family-centered approaches and respecting individual differences. The role includes comprehensive assessment, individualized care planning, education, advocacy, documentation, care coordination, and evaluation of patient outcomes. The nurse collaborates with the healthcare team, supports care transitions, contributes to performance improvement, and provides mentorship and direction to staff.

Requirements

• BSN from an accredited school of nursing; nurses with an Associate’s Degree in Nursing must complete a BSN within five years of their start date.
• At least one year of experience as a Registered Nurse.
• For critical care units, at least one year of Registered Nurse experience in a critical care setting or completion of a critical care fellowship.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association upon start.
• For critical care units, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification within six months.
• For pediatric units, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within six months.
• For infusion center units, obtain a chemotherapy card within three months of hire.
• Licensed or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse, or hold an active multi-state Registered Nurse license.

Nice To Haves

• Two years of recent inpatient Registered Nurse experience on a Postpartum unit.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Responsibilities

• Document patient care activities according to standards.
• Evaluate care processes, anticipate patient variances, and revise care plans accordingly.
• Make clinical decisions based on experience, patient data, and intuition.
• Foster effective communication and cooperation with clinical teams.
• Assess and measure patient education needs and outcomes.
• Provide mentorship, guidance, and direction to staff, including preceptorship and delegation of care activities.
• Ensure care delivery aligns with standards, guidelines, and collaborative processes.
• Pursue professional development through continuing education.
• Evaluate clinical and quality outcomes and contribute to performance improvement.
