Registered Nurse - 9E Medical Surgical

About The Position

The Registered Nurse delivers nursing care within the assigned unit’s scope of practice, following hospital policies and procedures, nursing process guidelines, standards of care, and standards of practice. This role is in the Medical Surgical department on 9E and works nights from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., for 72 scheduled hours bi-weekly.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Hold a current State of Michigan Registered Nurse license.
Hold American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS certification as a Healthcare Provider.
For applicable units, obtain the specified certification within six months of hire: ACLS for Critical Care, Emergency, Endoscopy, Cardiac Cath Lab, Cardiac Rehab, Intensive Care Unit, Step-Down, and Telemetry Floats; NRP for Labor and Delivery; PALS for Pediatrics; and PALS and TNCC within one year for the Emergency Department.
Experience in a specialty area will be considered. Experience specific to the unit or position may be required to maintain the unit’s overall competency level, as required by a regulatory agency.

Nice To Haves

One year of professional nursing experience.
ACLS certification is preferred in other units.

Responsibilities

Assess each assigned patient, document and evaluate the patient’s response to the plan of care, and take appropriate corrective action.
Plan and implement the patient’s plan of care or standard of care and provide patient teaching using that plan.
Oversee ancillary personnel performing technical tasks.
