About The Position

Under the supervision of a registered nurse, the Nurse Assistant I supports nursing staff and assists in delivering patient care in accordance with the patient care plan and hospital policies and procedures. This position is in the Medical Surgical department and is scheduled for 72 hours bi-weekly, with daily work hours from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.

Requirements

• High school graduation or equivalent.
• BLS certification as a Healthcare Provider or equivalent through the Military Training Network (MTN).
• At least six months of nursing assistant experience if the specialized education requirements listed in the posting have not been met.

Nice To Haves

• Direct patient care experience is preferred.
• For candidates who do not meet the minimum six-month nursing assistant experience requirement, specialized education includes an acute care nursing assistant course (preferred for acute care positions), a long-term care nursing assistant course, completion of an emergency medical technician program, completion of a medical assistant program, or completion of a clinical rotation while participating in an accredited nursing program.

Responsibilities

• Provide routine patient care services, including responding to call lights; assisting with ambulation, transfers, and positioning; providing personal hygiene assistance; and assisting with prescribed bowel and bladder programs.
• Collect, record, and report patient data, and report changes in patient condition.
• Perform surgical skin preparations and basic skin care procedures.
• Perform bedside finger-stick blood glucose testing and quality control checks of blood glucose instruments.
