About The Position

Indiana University Health is seeking an experienced, passionate Registered Nurse to join the Clinical Decision Unit at Ball Memorial in Muncie, Indiana. The CDU monitors and evaluates patients who do not meet the criteria for inpatient admission but are not ready to go home or require further observation. It offers a fast-paced environment where nurses can connect with patients and develop assessment, patient-interaction, and organization skills. The unit is described as a Magnet unit with a highly engaged, positive, close-knit, and interactive team of fewer than 20 members.

Requirements

• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN).
• Graduation from a nationally accredited nursing program. Candidates from programs that are not nationally accredited may be considered with more than two years of acute care experience, subject to review and approval by the Chief Nursing Officer.
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
• Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required depending on unit or department specialty and patient care policies.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and evaluate patients in the Clinical Decision Unit who require further observation but do not meet inpatient admission criteria.
• Provide individualized, patient-centered nursing care.
• Use nursing assessment, patient interaction, and organization skills in a fast-paced clinical environment.
