Registered Nurse-Clinical Decision Unit
About The Position
The Registered Nurse is a professional caregiver and member of a multidisciplinary health care team. The RN assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients during a designated time frame and supervises and provides care using the nursing process, including the therapeutic use of self. The role follows established policies and procedures, communicates openly with internal customers and supervisors, provides excellent customer service when interacting with staff, management, and physicians, applies Cooper core values, and performs other duties as required. The Clinical Decision Unit (CDU) is a locked, 35-bed, single-room unit on the first floor of the Kelemen building. Patients are typically there for observation or await an available inpatient floor bed. The team conducts multidisciplinary rounds Monday through Friday, involving patients in their care and coordinating care and appropriate discharge planning. The Express Admit Unit (EXAU), managed by the CDU, has six-bed areas where admitted patients receive privacy and care while waiting for a floor bed. Patients in both the CDU and EXAU may be on telemetry for cardiac monitoring.
Requirements
- Graduate of an NLN-accredited School of Nursing.
- Current New Jersey Registered Nurse (NJ-RN) license.
- Current American Heart Association BLS certification (Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers).
Nice To Haves
- Advanced certification may be required for certain specialties, such as ACLS, NALS, or PALS.
