About The Position

TriHealth is hiring a part-time Registered Nurse for the Observation Unit, also known as the Clinical Decision Unit (CDU), at Bethesda North Hospital. The nurse provides direct and indirect holistic care to adult and geriatric patients who need short-term monitoring, diagnostic testing, and treatment, including medical, pre/post-surgical, and cardiac interventions. The role applies the nursing process, collaborates with physicians and other healthcare team members, and supports patients and families through clinical decisions while contributing to patient flow, safety, and outcomes. The 35-bed inpatient unit provides care according to Medicare guidelines. New nurses receive corporate orientation, one-on-one onboarding with the Nurse Manager or Educator, and individualized unit orientation with preceptor support, typically lasting 4–8 weeks. Training and development opportunities include NIHSS certification, ACLS/BLS training, ECG/telemetry skills, SIM code readiness exercises, and shadowing. The unit uses a six-week scheduling cycle, including every third weekend and holiday rotations. The position is on-site and scheduled for 24 hours per week on nights, 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m. The nurse performs assessments, develops and evaluates individualized plans of care, provides safe and culturally sensitive treatment, administers medications and treatments, and documents care. The nurse communicates with patients, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary colleagues; may delegate and supervise aspects of care within nursing practice; and may serve as a specialty resource for staff.
