About The Position

Provides professional nursing care within an assigned unit and coordinates care planning with other disciplines. The Registered Nurse Float Pool role is full time, with 72 hours per pay period on the night shift at Parkwest Medical Center in West Knoxville. Parkwest Medical Center is Covenant Health’s flagship facility and serves the East Tennessee community with advanced hospital services and compassionate care.

Requirements

• At least one year of professional nursing experience.
• Must have and maintain Tennessee State RN licensure.
• CPR required.
• Education must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the required license and/or certification.

Responsibilities

• Correlates patient history and support systems within hospital care or nursing home care.
• Assesses the learning needs of patients and families.
• Develops and initiates plans of care involving patients and families.
• Recommends interventions and evaluates plans of care.
• Resolves moderately complex issues without oversight or supervision.
• Demonstrates willingness to precept employees or students as directed.
• Reviews preceptee clinical performance with the unit leader or clinical instructor.
• Demonstrates competence in critical skills and delivers care appropriate to the age-specific needs of the population served.
• Supervises LPNs, Nursing Assistants, HUCs, Techs, and sitters.
• Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards.
• Completes required annual education assignments.
• Works toward goals and objectives and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
