About The Position

Provides professional nursing care within an assigned unit and coordinates care planning with other disciplines. The role involves assessing patients and their families, developing and evaluating plans of care, and addressing moderately complex issues independently. The nurse also participates in unit or facility activities, may precept employees or students, supervises designated support staff, and contributes to quality improvement initiatives. The position is full time, 72 hours per pay period, on the night shift at Roane Medical Center.

Requirements

• At least one year of professional nursing experience.
• Valid Tennessee RN license.
• CPR required.

Responsibilities

• Correlate patient history and support systems within hospital care or nursing home care.
• Assess the learning needs of patients and families.
• Develop and initiate plans of care involving patients and families.
• Recommend interventions and evaluate plans of care.
• Resolve problems involving moderately complex issues without oversight or supervision.
• Participate actively in unit or facility activities.
• Precept employees or students as directed and review preceptee clinical performance with the unit leader or clinical instructor.
• Demonstrate competence in critical skills and deliver care appropriate to the age-specific needs of the population served.
• Supervise LPNs, Nursing Assistants, HUCs, Techs, and sitters.
• Follow policies, procedures, and safety standards.
• Complete required annual education assignments.
• Work toward goals and objectives and participate in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
• Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
