About The Position

Provides professional nursing care within an assigned unit and coordinates care planning with other disciplines. The role is in the Medical Surgical Unit at Claiborne Medical Center, a member of Covenant Health. Claiborne Medical Center offers emergency care, general and orthopedic surgery, rehabilitation, diagnostic services, and skilled and long-term care through Claiborne Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Requirements

• At least one year of professional experience.
• Valid Tennessee RN license.
• CPR certification required.
• Education must be sufficient to meet the standards for the required license and/or certification; no minimum education level is otherwise specified.

Responsibilities

• Correlates patient history and support systems within hospital care or nursing home care.
• Assesses the learning needs of patients and families.
• Develops and initiates plans of care involving patients and families.
• Recommends interventions and evaluates plans of care.
• Resolves problems regarding moderately complex issues without oversight or supervision.
• Participates actively in unit or facility activities.
• Shows willingness to precept employees or students as directed.
• Reviews preceptee clinical performance with the unit leader or clinical instructor.
• Demonstrates competence in critical skills and delivers care appropriate to the age-specific needs of the population served.
• Supervises LPNs, Nursing Assistants, HUCs, Techs, and sitters.
• Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards.
• Completes required annual education assignments.
• Works toward achieving goals and objectives and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
