About The Position

Under minimal supervision, the Registered Nurse provides nursing care to an assigned group of patients, matching patient needs with the nurse’s competencies. The nurse completes established position competencies within the designated introductory period and performs other related duties as assigned. This position may qualify for a sign-on bonus.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Current Texas State License for Registered Nurse.
Active healthcare provider Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from ARC or AHA is required upon hire; AHA Healthcare Provider BLS must be obtained within 60 days of hire.
For the Med/Surg position, no prior experience is required.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree.
Two years of acute-care experience for Med/Surg.

Responsibilities

Assess patients’ responses and adaptation to actual or potential health problems, including those of their families and/or significant others.
Develop a patient-care plan based on the initial assessment; implement and continually evaluate interventions; and reassess patient needs on an ongoing basis.
Recognize changes in a patient’s condition and timely, appropriately use unit resources, the chain of command, and the Rapid Response Team (RRT).
Document care plans and care provided.
Identify patient and family education needs and provide education through individualized instruction, written materials, and/or other available resources.
Assign nursing care to licensed staff, delegate nursing care to unlicensed staff, and coordinate workflow.
Calculate and administer medications.
Coordinate and collaborate with multidisciplinary team members in planning and managing patient care.
Participate in discharge planning and provide instruction to patients and families.
Maintain and promote professional standards and development by participating in in-services, committees, and staff meetings.
