Registered Nurse (RN) Unit Coordinator - Vascular Stepdown Intermediate Care
About The Position
Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is hiring a full-time Registered Nurse Unit Coordinator for our Vascular Stepdown Intermediate Care Unit (9K). This unit is a 24-bed stepdown intermediate care unit specializing in vascular surgery, telemetry, and renal/pancreas transplant care. As part of the Surgical Specialty Team, the unit brings together RNs, LPNs, Nursing Care Partners, Unit Ambassadors, and Clinical Support Associates to deliver exceptional patient care. Nurses on this unit will care for a diverse patient population and gain hands-on experience with complex vascular procedures such as aortic aneurysm repair, carotid endarterectomy, femoral bypass surgeries, and amputations. The unit also serves as an extension of the renal/pancreas transplant program. Every bed is monitored, offering opportunities to strengthen telemetry skills and expand expertise in surgical specialty and transplant nursing. The unit is committed to professional growth, offering specialized training and support for PCCN certification.
Requirements
- Registered Nurse license required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire
- Oncology Nursing Society (ONS)/Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC) or Sentara - approved Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider Card required within 6 months of hire
- 18 months RN experience required
Nice To Haves
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred
- PCCN certification support
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates proficiency in nursing practice for assigned specialty area and provides clinical leadership for the delivery of nursing care in a department.
- Under the direction of the department manager leads safety and quality initiatives, focuses on and simplifies workflow, and contributes to the development of staff.
- Increase staff satisfaction and promotes excellent (Gold Standard) customer service.
