The Surgery Outpatient Offices (SOPA) is a clinic caring for surgical patients. As a team member, you will work alongside the surgeon, caring for patients beginning with their surgical consultation and continue throughout their surgical journey. You will provide pre and post operative education as well as phone triage for patients and their families questions, before and after their surgery. Our patient population includes plastic surgery and general surgery, including hepatobiliary and colorectal surgeons. Our clinic also has a dedicated dietician and a social worker. Our clinic has 25 clinic rooms that includes two treatment rooms. We have approximately 12K patient visits per year.

Requirements

  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
  • Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN).
  • Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
  • Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
  • Knowledge of procedures for performing the functions appropriate to the specific clinical area and familiarity with designated pieces of equipment and supplies.
  • Requires ability to coordinate a number of functions for a group of patients in an effective timely manner.
  • Requires awareness and understanding of legal implications of patient care activities and performance as a Registered Nurse.

Nice To Haves

  • Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
  • Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Two years experience in an ambulatory setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide pre and post operative education.
  • Provide phone triage for patients and their families questions, before and after their surgery.
  • Assess patients without face-to-face interaction.
