Registered Nurse (RN) - Colonial Heights Free Standing Emergency Center - PRN
About The Position
The Emergency Room Registered Nurse provides nursing care to patients in the Colonial Heights freestanding emergency department. The role assesses patient status, prioritizes patient problems and needs, implements clinical nursing interventions, and develops and performs care plans to improve outcomes. The nurse helps ensure a safe, therapeutic environment and applies a broad skillset while caring for patients ranging from short-stay to trauma in a fast-paced, high-intensity setting. The RN collaborates with an interdisciplinary care team, coordinates care across hospital departments, evaluates and revises care plans to achieve expected outcomes, and administers medications in accordance with applicable state practice requirements and organizational policies. This position is PRN and has a day/evening work shift.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited associate degree or bachelor's degree program in Nursing.
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
- One year of professional experience practicing as a Registered Nurse.
- BLS or ACLS and PALS are preferred at hire and must be obtained from an approved source before direct patient care; ACLS and PALS are required within six months of hire.
Nice To Haves
- Recent Emergency Department or Critical Care experience is preferred but not required.
- EPIC Electronic Health Record training is preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
- Assess patient status and determine the priority of patient problems and needs.
- Implement clinical nursing interventions and develop and perform patient care plans to improve outcomes.
- Help ensure a safe and therapeutic environment.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team in a fast-paced, high-intensity setting.
- Care for groups of patients ranging from short-stay to trauma as part of an interprofessional team.
- Evaluate, update, and revise plans of care to facilitate planned and expected outcomes.
- Serve as a point of contact for patients' care coordination throughout hospital departments.
- Administer medications safely in accordance with state practice requirements and organizational policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
