The Registered Nurse works in the 16-bed Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) at Aurora West Allis Medical Center in West Allis, Wisconsin. The unit cares for moderately stable patients with elevated risk for instability, including ICU step-down patients, patients chronically ventilated via tracheostomy, and patients at higher risk of decompensation based on lab trends, vital signs, and comorbidities. The unit has a supportive, collaborative, teaching culture, with an equal mix of experienced staff and new graduates. Typical RN-to-patient ratios are 1:3–4 on both days and nights. The RN receives preceptor-directed orientation and develops foundational skills for caring for intermediate-acuity patients with acute and chronic conditions. The role coordinates comprehensive, safe, therapeutic patient care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures, and collaborates with a multidisciplinary team. Nurses provide continuity of patient-centered care during 12-hour shifts and contribute to a skilled, versatile team serving diverse patient populations. This is a full-time night position, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, with every third weekend and 50% holidays. The stated pay range is $38.20–$57.30. The position includes a $5.00-per-hour night shift differential. Advocate Health notes that compensation may depend on qualifications, skills, relevant experience, and training, and that premium pay and other programs may depend on eligibility.
