Start Your Behavioral Health Nursing Career at Glens Falls Hospital. As a new graduate nurse in our Psychiatric Specialty Track (Psych 101), you'll participate in Glens Falls Hospital's Nurse Residency Program with a Magnet-recognized organization committed to nursing excellence and professional development. Designed to support the transition from nursing school to professional practice, Psych 101 combines a progressive clinical orientation, specialty behavioral health education, interdisciplinary collaboration, and ongoing mentorship throughout your first year. Working alongside experienced preceptors, you'll gain experience in both the Behavioral Health Unit (BHU) and Crisis Services Unit (CSU), caring for adult and child/adolescent patient populations while developing the therapeutic communication, critical thinking, and compassion essential to behavioral health nursing. Through interdisciplinary shadowing experiences and specialty education—including psychopharmacology, de-escalation techniques, trauma-informed care, gender and sexuality, and other behavioral health topics—you'll build the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to succeed as a behavioral health nurse.
