Start Your Emergency Nursing Career at Glens Falls Hospital. As a new graduate nurse in our Emergency Department Specialty Track (ED 101), you'll participate in Glens Falls Hospital's ANCC-accredited Nurse Residency Program with a Magnet-recognized organization committed to nursing excellence and professional development. Designed to support the transition from nursing school to professional practice, ED 101 combines a progressive clinical orientation, specialized emergency nursing education, and ongoing mentorship throughout your first year. Because emergency nursing requires a unique combination of clinical judgment, rapid decision-making, teamwork, and adaptability, you'll begin your residency on a Medical-Surgical unit to build a strong foundation in acute care nursing before transitioning into the Emergency Department. There, you'll work alongside experienced preceptors caring for patients of all ages with a wide range of illnesses, injuries, and acuity levels while completing specialized training—including ACLS, PALS, ED Nursing Fundamentals, and additional emergency-focused education—to develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to succeed as an emergency nurse.
