About The Position

Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is seeking Registered Nurses (RNs) for a training opportunity in the Operating Rooms. This role is part of the provincial implementation of minimum Nurse to Patient Ratios (mNPRs), aimed at enhancing nursing practice and quality of care. This is a specialty training opportunity that requires full-time attendance in a post-basic training education program. Successful completion of this program is required before working in the Department. The training program includes funding for 100% of wages, tuition, and books. Candidates accepting this opportunity agree to remain with VCH as a regular status nurse in the specialty area for at least 18 months after completing training. Failure to do so may result in VCH seeking to recover the cost of the program. The hours of work, days off, and work area are subject to change based on operational requirements and the Collective Agreement. All healthcare workers are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections as per Ministry of Health policy. Requirements

  • Must be a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Must successfully complete the post-basic training education program.
  • Must attend the training program full-time.
  • Must agree to remain with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) as a regular status nurse in the area of nursing applicable to the education program for which they are hired for at least 18 months subsequent to completing training.
  • Must provide information on past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections as part of the onboarding process.

Responsibilities

  • Successfully complete the post-basic training education program.
  • Remain with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) as a regular status nurse in the applicable nursing area for at least 18 months subsequent to completing training.
  • Report past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections as required by Ministry of Health policy.
