About The Position

Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is seeking a Registered Nurse for a training opportunity within the Labour and Delivery team at qathet General Hospital in Powell River, BC. This role involves practicing in accordance with the standards of professional practice and code of ethics for registered nurses as outlined by the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM), and within a client and family-centred care model. The nurse will provide advanced perinatal nursing care to expectant clients through comprehensive assessments and also provide nursing care to assigned medical/surgical patients. This position emphasizes enhancing quality of life from the client/family perspective, consulting and collaborating with other healthcare providers, demonstrating continuous improvement and best practices, maintaining clinical competence, and participating in designated hospital committees and approved research projects.

Requirements

  • Approximately one year recent acute medical/surgical experience upon perinatal program full-time start date.
  • Must successfully complete the post-basic training education prior to working in the Department.
  • Candidates accepting this training opportunity agree to remain with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) as a regular status nurse in the area of nursing applicable to the education program for which they are hired for at least 18 months subsequent to completing training.
  • Must report past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections as per Ministry of Health policy.
