About The Position

The Perinatal Nurse is a Registered Professional Nurse assigned to the Perinatal Services Unit, responsible for the direct delivery of patient care using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, to a specific group of ante partum, laboring and delivering, recovering, and post-partum mothers, as well as their newborns. The Perinatal Nurse coordinates care in collaboration with the family, significant others, physicians, and other health care providers, demonstrating a commitment to family-centered care. The Perinatal Nurse is trained and able to initiate, modify, or stop treatment when appropriate and according to established protocols, even when a physician is not present. The perinatal Nurse demonstrates proficiency in advanced nursing skills and correct use of appropriate equipment. The LDRP/Perinatal Nurse is cross-oriented and capable of providing nursing care in the well-baby and continuing care nurseries.
