This position focuses on the care of pediatric patients, recognizing that children have unique healthcare needs requiring specialized knowledge and expertise. The Registered Nurse will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care, participate in discharge planning, function as a patient advocate, and teach patients/families about illness/injury and overall health promotion and wellness. The role aims to enhance quality of life by documenting care provided and responding to incidents according to established policies and procedures. The nurse will consult, confer, and collaborate with other healthcare providers, maintain and advance their clinical competence, and participate in designated hospital committees/teams and approved research projects as assigned. Practice will be in accordance with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) standards and code of ethics, within the scope of practice set by the organization, and aligned with VCH policies, guidelines, clinical practice documents, and personal competence. This practice is aligned with the organization's vision, mission, goals, and values, as well as the concept of a patient and family-centered care model.
