About The Position

Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is seeking a Registered Nurse for an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) training opportunity at Vancouver General Hospital in Vancouver, BC. This role operates within a client and family-centred care model and adheres to the standards of practice set by the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM). The nurse will provide care to high-risk critically ill clients requiring life-support equipment, and/or clients in post-anaesthetic recovery. This involves working both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team, aiming to enhance the client/family's quality of life. The role includes consulting, conferring, and collaborating with other healthcare providers, demonstrating expertise and leadership in nursing practice, maintaining and advancing clinical competence, and participating in designated hospital committees/teams and approved research projects as assigned. Requirements

  • Approximately two years recent acute medical/surgical experience is prioritized for eligibility for the post-basic training education.
  • Must successfully complete the post-basic training education prior to working in the Department.
  • Candidates accepting this training opportunity agree to remain with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) as a regular status nurse in the area of nursing applicable to the education program for which they are hired for at least 18 months subsequent to completing training.
  • Must report past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections as per Ministry of Health policy.
