Registered Nurse (RN) - Critical Care - Post Anesthesia Care Unit - Training Opportunity
About The Position
Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is seeking a Registered Nurse for a Critical Care - Post Anesthesia Care Unit training opportunity at UBC Hospital in Vancouver, BC. This role operates within a client and family-centred care model, adhering to the standards of practice set by the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM), the Code of Ethics, and VCH's established mission, vision, values, objectives, and policies. The nurse will provide care to high-risk critically ill clients with unpredictable outcomes requiring life-support equipment, and/or clients in post-anaesthetic recovery. This involves working both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team, enhancing client/family quality of life, consulting and collaborating with other healthcare providers, demonstrating expertise and leadership, maintaining clinical competence, and participating in designated hospital committees/teams and approved research projects as assigned. VCH is committed to fostering quality practice and learning environments, and is a proud participant in the provincial implementation of minimum Nurse to Patient Ratios (mNPRs) to enhance nursing practice and strengthen care quality.
Requirements
- Approximately two years recent acute medical/surgical experience upon critical care program full-time start date.
- Must successfully complete the post-basic training education prior to working in the Department.
- Candidates accepting this training opportunity agree to remain with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) as a regular status nurse in the area of nursing applicable to the education program for which they are hired for at least 18 months subsequent to completing training.
- Must report past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections as per Ministry of Health policy.

Responsibilities
