About The Position

This is a temporary position for a Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Medical-Surgical and Telemetry care, working night shifts. McLaren Bay has implemented a strict three-strike attendance policy for RN contractors, effective September 1, 2026. This policy addresses absences, lateness, and unapproved early departures, with three strikes leading to immediate termination. Documentation may be considered for extenuating circumstances like illness or hospitalization. The role involves comprehensive patient assessment, medication and treatment administration, care coordination with multidisciplinary teams, patient and family education, and emergency response to patient deterioration.

Requirements

• 2 years of Medical-Surgical and Telemetry experience.
• Must be willing to work in a float pool.
• BLS certification from AHA.
• Active Michigan RN license at the time of submission.

Responsibilities

• Performing comprehensive assessments upon admission and monitoring condition trends throughout the patient's hospital stay.
• Preparing, administering, and charting prescribed medications (including IVs) and managing wound care or specialized equipment.
• Collaborating with physicians, case managers, and multidisciplinary teams to develop and execute individualized care plans.
• Instructing patients and families on post-surgery care, medication schedules, and post-discharge instructions.
• Recognizing early signs of medical deterioration and taking swift action to stabilize patients before emergencies occur.
