About The Position

Mobile Health Team Inc. is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN)- Lactation Consultant Program Coordinator for a 13-week travel assignment in Pittsfield, MA. This position is responsible for providing expert assessment, treatment, consultation, planning and leadership oversight for optimal lactation management in both the inpatient and outpatient setting. For patients with advanced lactation support needs, will formulate an interdisciplinary plan of care and communicate with the care team related to these goals and plans.

Requirements

  • Must have 1+ years experience as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (BCLC) - Equivalent Certs NOT accepted
  • A MINIMUM of 2500 hours as a breast-feeding consultant is required
  • Experience with inpatient lactation programs is required
  • Outpatient prenatal and postpartum lactation education, consultations and/or teaching experience is required
  • Meditech Expanse experience is strongly preferred
  • Perm address must be included with profile
  • Traveler must have their own vehicle for this assignment
  • Must have current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the American Heart Association
  • Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assess breastfeeding sessions including the newborn’s latch, milk transfer, and position.
  • Assess newborn for adequate milk intake, appropriate weight gain, and jaundice.
  • Educate the patient about breastfeeding techniques, breast pumping methods, and breast milk storage.
  • Educate patient about baby feeding cues, normal stools, and feeding concerns.
  • Assist with troubleshooting for painful latch or nipples, poor milk transfer, or breast refusal.
  • Provide referrals for babies with poor weight gain, observed tongue and lip tie, and any medical newborn conditions.
  • Provide breastfeeding support, encouragement, and care for postpartum patients.
  • Educate mom how to record newborn feeding schedule and wet and dirty diapers.
