About The Position

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join a Med-Surgical Inpatient Surgical Unit in a fast-paced acute care setting. This unit primarily cares for post-operative patients transitioning from PACU, including those recovering from abdominal surgeries and requiring wound care and patient education. The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing a high patient volume while delivering safe, patient-centered care. Unit Details: General Medical/Surgical Unit, 45 Beds, Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 7:1, Patient Population: Post-surgical recovery patients, Abdominal surgery cases, Wound care and post-operative management.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of recent acute care RN experience (within the last 2 years)
  • Active Florida RN License or Compact RN License
  • Compact license holders must obtain Florida licensure within 60 days
  • Nursing Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) required
  • BLS (AHA) certification required prior to start
  • NIH Stroke Scale certification required within 30 days of start

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Strong experience in post-operative and wound care
  • Must reside within a commutable distance of the facility
  • In-person interview required prior to offer (may include shadowing and facility tour)
  • Comfortable in a high-volume Med-Surg environment
  • Strong clinical skills in post-operative care and wound management
  • Excellent communication and patient education abilities
  • Team-oriented, adaptable, and detail-focused

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care for post-surgical and medical-surgical patients
  • Monitor patient conditions and manage post-operative recovery
  • Perform wound care and dressing changes
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed
  • Educate patients and families on post-operative care and discharge instructions
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure quality patient outcomes
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation
  • Ensure adherence to safety, infection control, and hospital protocols
