About The Position

This is a temporary Registered Nurse (RN) position requiring flexibility to float between the medical care unit, post-surgical unit, and Intermediate Care Unit. The RN will apply the nursing process within their scope of practice as defined by the Oregon State Board of Nursing. Responsibilities include patient teaching, documenting patient care, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team. The role demands adaptability to rapidly changing patient and unit needs, effective teaching skills, and the ability to respond to patient crises. Punctual attendance and flexibility in accepting varied assignments are essential. The position is for night shifts.

Requirements

  • Recent (within past 5 years) hospital experience
  • 2 years of Med Surg experience
  • Willing to float within the Medical Care Unit, Post Surgical Unit and Intermediate Care Unit/PCU
  • Resume
  • Skills checklist (within 1 year)
  • Willing to obtain OR license
  • Willing to obtain BLS (AHA)
  • Willing to obtain ACLS (AHA)

Nice To Haves

  • Active OR license at time of submission
  • Active certifications at time of submission

Responsibilities

  • Applies the nursing process to the care of patients within the RN scope of practice as defined by the Oregon State Board of Nursing.
  • Teaches patients and significant others.
  • Documents patient care in the medical record.
  • Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to effectively coordinate overall care of the patient.
  • Prioritizes and adapts to rapidly-changing patient and unit needs.
  • Demonstrates effective teaching skills.
  • Responds effectively to patient crisis/emergency situations.
  • Maintains regular, consistent, and punctual attendance at the assigned job location.
  • Accepts assignment to varied areas.
  • Floats to the medical care unit, post-surgical unit, and Intermediate Care Unit/PCU.
