About The Position

The RN Supervisor, Clinical assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care based on LCMC's standards of care and policies. They delegate work and provide supervision to professionals and other personnel involved in the delivery of patient care. This role participates in the day-to-day operations of the department, under the supervision of the nursing manager/director, and acts as a clinical and operations resource person, maintaining current knowledge of clinical practice and departmental operations. The RN Supervisor also audits, reports, and educates staff on nursing documentation and meeting professional and JCAHO requirements. They are responsible for preparing the staffing schedule with approval from the appropriate manager/director, planning daily staffing coverage according to department needs and appropriate skill mix, and adhering to the staffing plan while monitoring staffing levels daily. Modifications to staffing patterns based on patient acuity, current technology, and available resources are also part of this role. Additionally, the RN Supervisor supervises departmental employees, including conducting new employee orientation and competency assessment, providing feedback and input for performance evaluations, and handling personnel matters as delegated. They collaborate with leaders in interviewing and selecting candidates, attend recruitment events, and represent the department when requested. The role involves assigning preceptors to new orientees, providing orientation materials, and reviewing orientation packet completion by the preceptor, sending completed paperwork to the leader. Maintaining employee accountability with all hospital policies and procedures, encouraging employee participation in the ongoing delivery of care and/or services, inspecting the department, and completing routine environmental and safety rounds are also key responsibilities. The RN Supervisor completes regular rounds on all patients to assure needs are met and resolves identified issues. They participate in unit-based and hospital-wide performance improvement initiatives, monitor compliance of core measure initiatives, participate in chart review to evaluate compliance with quality standards, and monitor quality control standards for the department. Finally, they participate in cross-organizational activities to improve organizational performance.

Requirements

  • RN Unencumbered Licensure valid in the State of Louisiana
  • Current American Heart BLS
  • Three-Five years directly related clinical experience.
  • 50% or more time spent with direct patient care
