RN Resident Ortho Neuro

St. Charles Health System•Bend, OR
•Onsite

About The Position

The Registered Nurse Resident position provides a transition between nursing school and bedside nursing in an acute care setting. The planned, comprehensive residency helps registered nurses acquire the knowledge and skills to deliver safe, quality clinical care and bridge the gap between nursing-school practice expectations and the requirements of professional nursing practice. Residents participate in classroom instruction, skills and simulation labs, discussion groups, debriefing, and mentoring, as well as clinical experience under the supervision of an experienced RN preceptor. Residents are hired for a specific unit and assigned a designated preceptor. The residency lasts 12 months, including three months actively working with a preceptor. After successfully completing the first three months, the resident applies for open full-time RN positions on their home unit. Residents are not eligible to transfer to another unit or change FTE for 12 months from the start of residency. Accepted applicants are asked to commit to working at St. Charles Health System for at least two years. The resident provides care to assigned patients during the shift within the scope of RN licensure and under the direction of an RN preceptor. The cohort starts March 1, 2027.
