About The Position

This position is for a Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU). The nurse will be responsible for patient care in a Medical/Surgical Telemetry setting, interpreting dysrhythmias, managing cardiac monitoring, and responding to emergencies. Responsibilities include administering medications, managing IV therapies, caring for central and peripheral lines, and handling respiratory needs such as chest tubes and oxygen therapy. The role also involves wound care, isolation precautions, and potentially floating to other units as needed. The hospital is a 5-time Magnet Award winner, a teaching hospital, and a Level 1 Trauma Center with 456 total staffed beds.

Requirements

  • 2 Years of experience required.
  • BLS certification required.
  • NIHSS certification required.
  • Experience with MS/Tele and Telemetry work settings.
  • Proficiency in Cardiac Monitoring and Emergency response.
  • Ability to interpret dysrhythmias.
  • Experience with IV insulin protocols.
  • Experience with IV therapy/Phlebotomy, including Blood Product Administration, Central line care/management, Peripheral Line Care/Management, PICC line management, and Starting IVs.
  • Experience with Heparin Protocols and PCA.
  • Experience with Chest tubes-Emerson/Pleur-evac, Oxygen face masks, and Non-invasive airway management.
  • Experience with Isolation Precautions and Wound Care/Wound Vac.
  • Home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility.

Responsibilities

  • Provide patient care in a Medical/Surgical Telemetry setting.
  • Interpret dysrhythmias and manage cardiac monitoring.
  • Respond to emergency situations.
  • Administer medications, including Heparin Protocols and PCA.
  • Perform IV therapy and phlebotomy, including blood product administration.
  • Manage central and peripheral lines, including PICC lines.
  • Provide respiratory care, including chest tubes and non-invasive airway management.
  • Perform wound care, including wound vacs.
  • Implement and adhere to isolation precautions.
  • Float to other departments, units, and facilities as needed to meet facility requirements.
  • Participate in holiday shifts and charge RN assignments as needed.
  • Work 8 weekend shifts within a 6-week schedule period, a combination of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
