About The Position

This is a 4-week travel assignment for a Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at a hospital/acute care unit in Plattsburgh, NY. The role involves providing direct patient care, administering medications, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, and responding to critical patient conditions. The nurse will also participate in a resource float model, rotating to appropriate units as needed.

Requirements

NY RN license on file at time of submission
AHA BLS and AHA ACLS required
NIHSS required prior to start
Minimum 1 year of Telemetry/PCU experience
Registered Nurse with approved nursing degree
Epic EMR experience within the past 2 years (nonnegotiable)
Ability to start IVs, administer and titrate cardiac/insulin/drips per protocol
Telemetry proficient
Able to work in a fast-paced acute inpatient PCU environment
Willingness to float to appropriate units as part of the float team
Responsive to unit needs and patient care priorities

Responsibilities

Provide direct patient care for adult cardiology and post-acute patients on the PCU, including telemetry monitoring and frequent assessment.
Administer medications and drips per protocol (including insulin and cardiac/hemodynamic infusions) and manage IV access (IV starts and venipuncture).
Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement care plans; document in the EMR (Epic) and communicate changes to the team.
Respond to evolving patient conditions with critical thinking, including hemodynamic instability and need for advanced monitoring.
Coordinate care for post-PCI/Stent patients, ACS/vasopressor or inotropic needs, and patients requiring frequent respiratory or neurovascular monitoring.
Participate in a resource float model, rotating to appropriate units as needed to meet patient care needs.
