About The Position

This is a travel temporary assignment in an acute care setting for a Registered Nurse in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). The role involves direct patient care within the Nursing Process framework and adherence to department and specialty standards. Responsibilities include leadership and delegation within the care team.

Requirements

• ACLS, BLS, and PALS (or ENPC) certifications must be active prior to the contract start date; if not, a booked course must be arranged at orientation.
• Ability to provide age-specific direct patient care in the PACU and to function within standard perioperative care guidelines.
• Commitment to patient safety, accurate charting, and regulatory compliance.
• Willingness to participate in orientation and complete any required credentialing processes.

Responsibilities

• Deliver age-specific, direct patient care in the PACU using the Nursing Process and applicable standards of care.
• Monitor post-anesthesia recovery, including vital signs, airway status, and overall clinical condition; respond to changes promptly.
• Administer prescribed medications, manage pain and comfort, and support hydration and nutrition as appropriate.
• Recognize and intervene on potential complications; escalate to the anesthesia and surgical teams as required.
• Exercise leadership responsibilities, including appropriate delegation of tasks to other staff while maintaining patient safety.
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and organizational policies.
