About The Position

This is a travel assignment for a Registered Nurse in Medical-Surgical units in Hilo, Hawaii. The contract duration is 15 weeks, starting on 10/05/2026. The role involves providing direct patient care, monitoring vital signs, administering medications, assisting with procedures, and collaborating with an interdisciplinary team. The nurse will be expected to float to multiple units, including the Medical Unit, Laulima Unit, and occasionally the Cardiovascular Unit. Orientation will be provided for each unit. The position requires an active Hawaii RN license by the start date. Shifts are 12 hours, 3 days per week, with no guaranteed minimum hours. Pay ranges from $1,866 to $2,017 per week.

Requirements

  • Active RN license required by start date
  • 2–10 years of RN experience in medical-surgical or closely related settings
  • BLS required
  • ACLS required
  • Registered Nurse (RN) preparation
  • Eligible for Hawaii licensure by start of assignment
  • Ability to work in a hospital setting and float to other units as needed
  • Must participate in unit-specific orientation
  • Arrival the Thursday before start for employee health clearance

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care for adults in medical-surgical and select specialty units, including wound care and chest tube management as applicable
  • Monitor vital signs, reassess and document patient status, and implement changes per plan of care
  • Administer medications and therapies per physician orders; utilize Meditech EMR and Pyxis for accuracy and safety
  • Assist with procedures and post-procedure care; manage wound vacs and other device-related care
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to coordinate care, education, and discharge planning
  • Demonstrate flexibility to float between Medical Unit, Laulima Unit, and Cardiovascular Unit when needed
