About The Position

The Eastern Colorado Veterans Healthcare System (ECHCS) provides comprehensive healthcare services to veterans across a wide region. ECHCS offers a range of medical services such as primary care, specialty care, mental health services, surgical procedures, rehabilitation, and long-term care. Veterans can access advanced diagnostic services, dental care, pharmacy services, and telehealth options, ensuring high-quality, accessible healthcare tailored to their needs. The system is dedicated to delivering compassionate and professional care to enhance the health and well-being of veterans in these communities. The RN Long Term Care shall provide services in the long-term care division comprised of 3 long-term care units: long-term, short-stay, hospice/palliative care residents. Shall be responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing and/or supervising direct patient care. The RN Long Term Care shall assess plans implements and evaluates care based on age-specific components.

Requirements

• Completed courses for nursing from an accredited program approved by either the Commission for Education in Nursing or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
• A current license in at least one state, territory, or commonwealth in the US or the District of Columbia.
• A minimum of three years' direct patient care experience.
• Must have Basic Life Support certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide services in the long-term care division comprised of 3 long-term care units: long-term, short-stay, hospice/palliative care residents.
• Be responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing and/or supervising direct patient care.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care based on age-specific components.
• Be responsible for patient activities of daily living, assessments, medication, administering medication and procedures per established policies and guidelines, ion administration, IV therapy, interdisciplinary team coordination, admissions, and discharges, internal and external transfers, delegating to assistive personnel, electronic medical record documentation, patient transport, and emergency response procedures.
