Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery
About The Position
Loyola University Medical Center (LUMC), located approximately 30 minutes from downtown Chicago, is seeking a part-time night-shift Registered Nurse to provide exceptional care in a supportive, team-oriented environment. The Women’s Health Unit includes a 30-bed Antepartum/Postpartum unit, an 18-bed Normal Newborn Nursery, a 6-bed Intermediate/Special Care unit, a 6-bed LDR, a 6-bed High Risk area, a 2-bed L&D Triage area, and two operating room suites. The unit cares for low- and high-risk laboring patients; antepartum patients; scheduled, unscheduled, and emergent cesarean sections; and pregnant patients with high-risk co-morbidities, including preeclampsia, diabetes, and cardiac, neurological, and respiratory conditions. Care also includes pregnancies involving congenital malformations or life-threatening conditions, pre-term labor, multiple gestations, and serious pregnancy complications. Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited school or college of nursing.
- BLS Provider certification accredited by the American Heart Association, required before hire.
- Illinois Board of Nursing license, required before hire.
- One year of Labor and Delivery experience.
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care to low- and high-risk laboring patients and antepartum patients.
- Care for patients undergoing scheduled, unscheduled, and emergent cesarean sections.
- Provide care to pregnant patients with co-morbidities such as preeclampsia, diabetes, and cardiac, neurological, or respiratory conditions.
- Care for patients carrying a child with congenital malformations or life-threatening conditions.
- Care for patients experiencing pre-term labor, multiple gestational pregnancy, and serious complications of pregnancy.
- Work collaboratively in a team-oriented unit and uphold Loyola Medicine’s guiding behaviors.
