About The Position

The registered nurse (RN) in the Mayo Clinic Department of Nursing Enterprise Staffing Pool will provide staffing support across Mayo Clinic sites (Arizona, Florida, Minnesota, and Wisconsin) as determined by staffing and patient care needs. The RN is accountable for the coordination of nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education and transitions of care. The role supports professional nursing practice across settings and the continuum of care to meet patient and family needs. The RN will function within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model, which includes accountability for planning, implementing, evaluating and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients. The ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice provide a basis for the practice of the RN. The RN provides leadership through activities such as preceptor role, informal and formal leadership roles, and quality improvement efforts. The RN delegates patient care according to skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability and availability of resources. The RN possesses excellent communication skills, is skillful in mentoring and teaching, and may participate on committees or projects. This float pool RN will provide contingency staffing support across Mayo Clinic nursing sites, actualizing Mayo Clinic core values and culture. Routine travel to various locations is required, and flexibility and adaptability in work assignments and schedules are essential.

Requirements

  • State licensure (for TN sponsorship)
  • Completion of the VisaScreen or equivalent certification (for TN sponsorship)
  • Possess excellent communication skills
  • Skillful in mentoring and teaching
  • Flexibility and adaptability in work assignments and work schedules

Responsibilities

  • Provide staffing support across Mayo Clinic sites (Arizona, Florida, Minnesota, and Wisconsin) as determined by staffing and patient care needs.
  • Coordinate nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education and transitions of care.
  • Support professional nursing practice across practice settings and across the continuum of care to meet the needs of the patient and family.
  • Function within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model, including accountability for planning, implementing, evaluating and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients.
  • Provide leadership through activities such as preceptor role, informal and formal leadership roles, and quality improvement efforts.
  • Delegate patient care according to skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability and availability of resources.
  • Travel on a routine basis to various locations.
