About The Position

ChristianaCare’s Juvenile Corrections at Ferris School is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse II to provide meaningful, hands-on nursing care to adolescents in a structured and supportive environment. This full-time position works 72 hours per biweekly pay period on 12-hour shifts from 3 p.m. to 3 a.m. The nurse serves as an on-site clinical leader, delivering direct patient care, responding to urgent and emergent situations, and helping maintain a safe, therapeutic environment. Weekends and holidays are shared on a rotating basis among the team. Ferris School is a secure, ACA-accredited treatment facility in Wilmington, Delaware, serving up to 72 court-committed males ages 13 to 18. Youth typically stay approximately six months, followed by a six-week transition program intended to support reintegration into the community. The facility provides integrated rehabilitation combining education, individualized programming, behavioral treatment, and therapeutic clinical services, and engages families to support reunification. Healthcare is delivered in a secure juvenile justice environment comparable to an inpatient or residential treatment setting. The clinical team supports adolescents with acute and chronic medical, behavioral health, mental health, social, and preventive care needs. Services include health assessments, screenings, wellness education, routine health maintenance, medication management, and care coordination. The RN provides patient-centered care to pediatric, adolescent, and adult populations with complex medical, behavioral, and emotional needs, using clinical judgment, professionalism, empathy, and sound decision-making. The role requires adherence to patient safety, security, infection prevention, medication-handling, and regulatory protocols. Requirements

Registered Nurse license or eligibility for licensure in Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, or New Jersey.
BLS certification required.
Clearance through the Delaware Division of Youth Rehabilitative Services (DYRS) background check with fingerprinting.
Strong clinical judgment, attention to detail, professionalism, empathy, and sound decision-making.
Commitment to patient safety, infection prevention, security, and regulatory compliance.

Nice To Haves

BSN preferred; ADN considered with agreement to complete a BSN within three years.
Two years of Registered Nurse experience in correctional, pediatric/adolescent, or psychiatric settings preferred.
