About The Position

Spectrum Healthcare Resources has a potential opportunity for a Registered Nurse - Health Educator - Certified Diabetes Educator at Naval Medical Center San Diego in California. This position offers: Full time, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 0600-2100 hours. Shifts provided on Monday through Friday will normally be scheduled for an 8.5-to-9-hour period, to include an uncompensated 30-to-60-minute lunch break, respectively. On occasion, services may be required on Saturday or Sunday, between the hours of 0700-1300 for a 5.5-hour shift. Shifts may also be provided Monday through Friday up to a 11.5-to-12-hour period to meet the business needs of the department. Shifts scheduled for a 12-hour duration of work, with an additional 60-minute uncompensated meal break provided during the shift. In no instance will the HCW be required to provide services more than 80 hours per two-week period. Opportunity to care for our Military men and women. Salary to be determined but in the range of $35-$45.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Nursing, Health Promotion, Education, Community/Public Health or Wellness, or a Health Science related field from an accredited university.
  • At least two years of full-time experience as a health educator within the last four years working with Health Promotions and Wellness campaigns.
  • Possess certification as a certified diabetes educator (CDE).
  • Graduate from a college or university accredited by Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
  • Current, full, active and unrestricted license to practice as a clinic nurse in any state, the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico or US Virgin Islands.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a Registered Nurse - Health Educator - Certified Diabetes Educator at Naval Medical Center San Diego.
  • Provide health education and wellness programs.
  • Focus on areas such as tobacco/nicotine cessation, diabetes prevention/management, weight management, stress management, sleep psychoeducation, nutrition, exercise, heart health, or disease management/prevention.
  • Care for Military men and women.
