About The Position

Registered Nurse – Geriatric travel assignment in Templeton, California. This travel opportunity is offered through Healthforce Healthcare LLC. The role is for a 13-week contract on a medical/surgical unit in a Short Term Acute Care Hospital. The nurse will provide age-appropriate nursing care for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, including assessment, monitoring, and escalation of changes in condition. Responsibilities also include developing and implementing care plans, administering medications and therapies, managing devices and wounds, and educating patients and families. The position requires the ability to work night shifts in a fast-paced acute care setting and collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team.

Requirements

  • Active RN license in the state of practice (California) required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor required
  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or equivalent required
  • At least two years of recent RN clinical experience
  • Experience on a Med/Surg floor preferred
  • Ability to work night shifts in a fast-paced acute care setting
  • Demonstrated assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide age-appropriate nursing care for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients on the medical/surgical unit, including assessment, monitoring, and escalation of changes in condition.
  • Develop, implement, and revise individualized care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team; document progress and adjust medications, therapies, and interventions accordingly.
  • Administer prescribed medications and therapies, manage intravenous fluids and blood products, monitor for adverse reactions, and ensure safe medication administration practices.
  • Manage indwelling urinary and vascular devices, wounds and drains, and IV therapy; apply sterile technique and infection-control standards.
  • Participate in epidural management, acute post-operative wound assessment, sterile technique, and vascular patency assessment as applicable; ensure competency with associated equipment.
  • Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, discharge instructions, and postoperative care; tailor teaching to age, culture, and learning readiness; assess understanding and provide follow-up resources.
  • Delegate routine tasks to trained ancillary staff within scope of practice; supervise and evaluate delegated care; communicate effectively to ensure continuity and safety of care.
