About The Position

This is a travel assignment for a Registered Nurse – First Assist (RNFA) in Rochester, NY, with a contract duration of 17 weeks. The role involves supporting cardiac surgery teams, including exposure and closing duties, vein harvesting for CABG, and involvement in a range of complex cardiac cases. The position is in a hospital setting and requires flexibility with shift hours and potential on-call responsibilities.

Requirements

  • NYS Registered Nurse license (active)
  • 2 years of cardiac RNFA experience
  • AHA BLS certification
  • AHA ACLS certification
  • CNOR certification
  • Telemetry competency

Responsibilities

  • Provide intraoperative RNFA support, including chest exposure and closing as required
  • Independently perform vein harvesting for CABG procedures
  • Scrub and circulate complex cardiac cases when needed; assist with DaVinci robotic cases if applicable
  • Support a range of cardiac procedures, including CABGs, structural heart cases (e.g., Bentall), minimally invasive valve surgery, and heart failure cases (e.g., Impella)
  • Work with heart transplant teams when applicable; participate in telemetry and postoperative care as directed
  • Maintain strict sterile technique, protect patient safety, and coordinate with the surgical team and anesthesia
  • Document perioperative care and ensure accurate reporting of patient status and procedure details
