About The Position

To provide occupational and environmental health nursing services to employees and prospective employees in a variety of age groups by performing varied occupational health services and functions in accordance with licensure, certification, training, and regulatory requirements. To respond effectively to new and changing working environments. To bear the primary responsibility and accountability for the occupational and environmental health nursing services that employees receive in the Employee Health Department.

Requirements

Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing with a Bachelors Degree in Nursing or graduate from an accredited School of Nursing with a Bachelors Degree in a healthcare related field.
Evidence of continuing professional education.
Five years experience as a medical/surgical nurse, a portion of which should be in the outpatient setting.
Computer skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office software: Word, Excel, and Email.
Current Occupational Health Nurse Certification or OHNC Certification within 2 years of hire into the position.
CPR (BCLS) Certification with AED Certification, Venipuncture.
Strong knowledge of the principles, practices, rules, requirements of Infection Control, Health & Wellness, Case Management, Medical Surveillance.
Strong knowledge of the principles, practices, rules, requirements of the following within two years of employment: Occupational Health and Safety, federal, state and private agency workplace regulations to include OSHA, ADA, FMLA, STD/LTD, Drug and Alcohol testing, Respirator Fit testing, Employee Assistance Program, Travel Medicine, Disability Management, Workers Compensation and Fitness for Duty.

Responsibilities

Performing varied occupational health services and functions in accordance with licensure, certification, training, and regulatory requirements.
Responding effectively to new and changing working environments.
Bearing the primary responsibility and accountability for the occupational and environmental health nursing services that employees receive in the Employee Health Department.
Physically assisting patients, requiring stretching, bending, lifting, sitting, kneeling, stooping, standing, walking, pushing and pulling.
Manual and finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
Talking and listening in English.
Effective oral and written communication skills, including speech clarity, understanding the information relayed, deductive and inductive reasoning skills.
Considerable walking, standing, sitting, reaching, filing, typing and photocopying.
Performing work accurately and paying attention to details, often changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure.
Functioning competently in stressful situations and changing work environment related to changing needs of patients with acute, chronic and complex and/or terminal disease processes.
Working cooperatively within health system, multidisciplinary team members (i.e. MD’s, Rehab, Respiratory, DI, Laboratory, etc).
Utilizing effective time management skills to set priorities to perform responsibilities, problem solve and deliver care.
Traveling to and working at various locations throughout the day.
Being available to work flexible hours including all shifts/days.
