About The Position

St. Anthony Hospital, a Magnet designated Level I Trauma Center in Lakewood, Colorado, offers a full range of medical specialties. The Emergency Department Observation unit is a 16-bed department managing over 300 patients monthly, primarily for chest pain and abdominal pain. This unit observes patients needing further testing or monitoring for 24-48 hours before potential transfer to an inpatient unit. It also accepts overflow from other departments and patients from surrounding free-standing EDs. This fast-paced environment allows nurses to solidify med/surg skills, develop excellent time management, and gain experience with emergency room patients while working alongside mid-level providers. The team is close-knit and supports members in achieving nursing goals and certifications.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree in Nursing required
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required for new graduates
  • One year RN experience (for experienced RNs)
  • Nursing skills and knowledge base specific to specialty
  • BLS American Heart Association
  • ACLS American Heart Association
  • NIHSS American Heart Association
  • RN License required; Current state nursing licenses or valid RN license from a participating state in the National Licensure Compact

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors Degree in Nursing preferred
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing preferred for experienced RNs
  • Candidates who are open, willing to ask questions, flexible with schedule, able to see the broader picture and are fast learners

Responsibilities

  • Facilitating, communicating, and collaborating with both the healthcare team, and the patient/family to identify and meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the patient.
  • Promote the optimal health, well-being and safety of the patient through use of the nursing process and in accordance with patient care standards, guidelines and the State Nurse Practice Act.
  • Demonstrate personal accountability for relationship-based care, organizational mission, and core values.
