St. Anthony Hospital, located in Lakewood, Colorado, is a Level I Trauma Center offering a full range of medical specialties and healthcare services to Denver and the surrounding region. It serves as the home base for Flight For Life Colorado and features a state-of-the-art medical campus with four trauma rooms, including a dedicated field-to-surgery suite available 24/7. The hospital achieved Magnet designation in 2023 and has received numerous other awards and accreditations from organizations like the American Heart Association, Chest Pain Center, American College of Cardiology, The Joint Commission, and the Emergency Nurses Association. The hospital combines expert care with the latest technology and innovation, offering a fast-paced environment for professionals in trauma, cardiology, stroke, neurosciences, breast imaging, cancer/oncology care, and surgery. The Emergency Department Observation unit at St. Anthony Hospital is a 16-bed department that handles over 300 patients monthly. It admits patients from the ED who require further observation, testing, or monitoring and are not suitable for an extended stay in the ED. Common diagnoses include chest pain and abdominal pain. The unit also accepts patients from surrounding free-standing EDs with similar criteria and may take overflow from other departments. Patients needing more than 24-48 hours of care are transferred to an inpatient unit. The department's mission is to provide safe, quality care in a timely manner. It is an ideal environment for nurses interested in emergency medicine to solidify their med/surg skills, develop excellent time management, and gain experience with emergency room patients. Nurses will encounter diverse patient cases and collaborate with mid-level providers (PAs or NPs). The team is close-knit, offering opportunities to learn about various disease processes and supporting members in achieving nursing goals, education, or certification for ED positions. The unit is very fast-paced, with admissions and discharges occurring on every shift. Ideal candidates are open, willing to ask questions, flexible with their schedule, able to see the broader picture, fast learners, adaptable to change, and willing to work hard. As a Registered Nurse (RN) in this role, you will contribute to modern nursing by applying your skills, experience, and commitment to compassionate care within a faith-based, mission-driven culture, fostering professional fulfillment and excellence.
