About The Position

This is a travel, temporary assignment for a Registered Nurse – Charge Acute Care in Penn Yan, NY. The assignment is for a duration measured in weeks with a flexible end date, starting on 09/08/2026. The position is within a hospital Emergency Department setting and offers a weekly pay range of $2,250 to $2,435. The shift is flexible, with options for 7:00 AM–7:00 PM or 7:00 PM–7:00 AM, requiring 36 hours per week and participation in holiday rotations. The role involves providing direct, high-quality patient care in the Emergency Department, including assessment, prioritization, and intervention for urgent and emergent conditions. Responsibilities also include performing primary and secondary assessments, monitoring patient status, documenting findings, administering medications, collaborating with healthcare professionals, educating patients and families, and maintaining infection prevention and patient safety.

Requirements

  • Current New York RN license (active)
  • Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and Stroke Certification (AHA or RQI only)
  • Minimum 1 year of acute hospital experience as a registered nurse, with ED exposure preferred
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced Emergency Department and participate in holiday rotations
  • Demonstrated clinical competencies for ED care, with strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct, high-quality patient care in the Emergency Department, including assessment, prioritization, and intervention for urgent and emergent conditions
  • Perform primary and secondary assessments, monitor patient status, and document findings accurately
  • Administer medications and treatments within scope of practice, monitor for adverse reactions, and adjust care plans as needed
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and ancillary staff to coordinate patient care and ensure timely completion of diagnostic procedures
  • Educate patients and families, address questions, and provide discharge planning information and referrals as appropriate
  • Maintain infection prevention, patient safety, and a healing environment; communicate effectively with the care team and patient/family updates
