Registered Nurse Case Manager (1099) - Maui, HI & Oahu, HI
About The Position
The IMA Group is seeking experienced Registered Nurse Case Managers to coordinate workers’ compensation cases on Oahu and/or Maui, Hawaii, as 1099 independent contractors. This flexible, field-based role combines local travel with remote documentation. The nurse serves as a liaison among injured workers, healthcare providers, employers, adjusters, insurance carriers, and attorneys, coordinating medical care and supporting return-to-work planning. The role involves no bedside care, weekend work, or on-call responsibilities. The IMA Group describes an established support team, steady referral volume, and flexibility in scheduling and caseload. The company’s Government Services Division supports government agencies with medical and psychological examinations and ancillary services; its Payer Services Division serves carriers, TPAs, public entities, and employers; and its Clinical Research Division conducts Phase II–IV clinical trials through nationwide sites and virtual capabilities.
Requirements
- Active Hawaii RN license.
- At least 3 years of Workers’ Compensation Field Case Management experience.
- Ability to work independently with a flexible caseload.
- Reliable transportation for local travel on Oahu and/or Maui.
- Malpractice insurance, or the ability to obtain it.
Nice To Haves
- CCM, CRRN, or similar certification.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and oversee medical treatment plans for injured workers.
- Attend medical appointments and evaluate treatment progression.
- Communicate with healthcare providers, employers, attorneys, and insurance carriers.
- Assess the medical necessity and appropriateness of care.
- Prepare timely, detailed case management reports.
- Support return-to-work and transitional duty planning.
- Coordinate Independent Medical Examinations (IMEs) and job site evaluations.
