About The Position

Sage Group HealthCare Staffing is seeking Behavioral Health RNs for travel/contract positions in Grand Rapids, MI. We are accepting both local and traveler candidates. This role involves providing all aspects of Behavioral Health nursing for patients in assigned units. The nurse will assess care needs, develop and reassess care plans in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, and coordinate nursing care with physicians. Responsibilities include assisting in patient and family teaching, providing milieu management, communicating discharge and aftercare needs, and ensuring a safe environment. The role also involves documenting information, reporting potential safety risks, functioning as a clinical leader by delegating and coordinating staff, promoting staff development, and potentially training direct care staff or functioning as a charge nurse.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse: 2 years - Required
  • Recent/Current IPsychiatric Nursing or Behavioral health experience: 2 years – Required
  • Pediatric experience - Required
  • ASN or an equivalent – Required
  • RN License for State of MI - Required
  • BLS Certification from AHA or American Red Cross - Required

Nice To Haves

  • Prior travel experience - Preferred
  • BSN or an equivalent – Highly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide all aspects of BH nursing for patients in the assigned units
  • Assesses person’s served care needs, develops a plan of care in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, and continually reassesses plan of care according to person’s served care needs.
  • In collaboration with the physician, provides/coordinates nursing care to individuals and groups of person’s served.
  • Assists in the teaching of persons’ served families, and provides milieu management.
  • Communicates with and educates persons’ served families/significant others in discharge/after care planning needs.
  • Provides a safe and secure environment for persons served and staff in both individual and group settings.
  • Responsible for documenting, reporting, and verifying all necessary information according to established policies and procedures.
  • Responsible to monitor for and report to the physician(s) any potential risk to person’s served safety that could lead to an adverse outcome.
  • Functions as a clinical leader, delegating/coordinating staff assignments and promoting staff development.
  • May be responsible in training direct care staff.
  • Performs other duties or functions as assigned.
  • May function as a charge nurse.
